The forthcoming Hyundai Veloster N will be the highest-performance vehicle Hyundai has ever offered in the United States. The new performance-oriented Veloster model was first announced at the 2018 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit earlier this year, but it made its first media drive appearance earlier this summer at the famous Nürburgring.
The track, nicknamed “The Green Hell,” covers 23 kilometers with more than 160 apexes, which makes it a challenging course — and the perfect place to demonstrate what the new Hyundai Veloster N is made of.
“Veloster N takes Hyundai to a new level of purchase consideration for true driving enthusiasts in the U.S. market,” remarked Albert Biermann, president and head of Performance Development and High Performance Vehicle Division, Hyundai Motor Group. “The Veloster N is another example of Hyundai Motor’s capabilities, creating an exciting sports car with thrilling dynamics combined with a compelling affordability equation as key to the N high-performance concept.”
The Veloster N will be powered by a 2.0-liter direct-inject turbocharged engine that generates 275 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Here in the U.S., the Veloster N will be available in four exterior colors: Chalk White, Racing Red, Ultra Black, and N-exclusive Performance Blue.
Production of the new Veloster N began this month in Ulsan, Korea. The high-performance model will be available here in the United States, including Wright Hyundai, in the fourth quarter of 2018.
