Earlier this year at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Hyundai unveiled the all-new Hyundai Veloster N, the very first in the brand’s high-performance N lineup. The sporty new Veloster N model takes its power from a turbocharged engine, laying out a whopping 275 horsepower. And officially, that engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
But rumor has it another transmission option may be made available: a dual-clutch transmission (DTC). Why do experts think this? According to The News Wheel, Hyundai has developed a DTC option for the i30N, so it is likely that the option will carry over to the Hyundai Veloster N.
Furthering the suspicion is an interview that comes full of winks and nudges. The interview appeared on The Drive; The Drive’s Eric Brandt interviewed a Hyundai rep about the DTC possibility for the Veloster N. The representative confirmed that the new Veloster N will debut with the six-speed manual, but he also added, “Stay tuned for more news this summer.” Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
So will the new Hyundai Veloster N get a dual-clutch transmission in 2019? We can’t say for sure, but we should get a clear answer this summer. For more information about the all-new Veloster N, feel free to stop by or give us a call at Wright Hyundai.
