The Hyundai KONA is the brand’s newest installment, a subcompact crossover that has already made a splash overseas. Now, however, the Hyundai KONA’s US debut is coming up fast. The Los Angeles Auto Show is right around the corner, and Hyundai recently teased that it will be bringing the 2018 KONA to the event for its first appearance stateside, fitting into a packed segment with the likes of the Nissan Juke, Mazda CX-3, and the Chevy Trax.
Some features that the KONA will have to offer are an available turbocharged engine that churns out 175 hp mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, as well as a capable AWD system. Additionally, when the Hyundai KONA debuts on the US market next spring, it will bring a new powertrain with it – the Hyundai KONA Electric, an EV variant that provides buyers interested in a green option.
More information will be available during the Hyundai KONA US debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. While not much will change between the overseas and North American models, this is the first time the Hyundai KONA will be offered to American buyers, giving them another option for an affordable and capable subcompact crossover. Feel free to give us a call at Wright Hyundai for more information on the new KONA.
